Regional HSE managers will work closely with the National HSE Manager and Business Managers in their region (i.e. Lab Managers, Lab Directors, Regional Managers, Regional Directors), as well as site-based HSE Representatives, to fulfill all health, safety, and environmental functions in their region. This will include visits, audits, incident prevention, investigation, reporting and follow-up, employee training, HSE record review, and compliance with other components of the ALS policies, safety programs and/or federal or state requirements.
In line with our goal in ALS USA Environmental to be the “Laboratory of choice for Clients and Staff” – the Regional HSE leads will be positive, approachable, friendly, and dynamic role models for the sites in their region to ensure HSE requirements are understood, able to be complied with, helping sites to implement when necessary, but most of all – keep employee’s safe so they can enjoy their workplace and other parts of their life outside of work.



Salary: $60,000-80,000


Primary sites each lead is responsible are below, plus service-centers, and associated services (i.e. couriers, bottle prep, etc) and future acquisitions within these regions:

  • West Primary Sites: Houston, Kelso, Salt Lake City, Simi Valley, Tucson
    Liaise with National HSE Manager as well as location Business Managers and HSE Representatives to implement all ALS HSE programs and policies, as well as federal and state HSE regulations, in all sites in this region.
  • Remotely attend the Joint Health Safety and Environment Committee meetings for associated locations.
  • Ensure orientation and ongoing Health and Safety training is provided for all staff.
  • Regularly monitor GPS based driver reports for couriers to ensure compliance with safe-driving requirements.
  • Coordinate HSE training programs for all staff (chemical hygiene, first aid, etc.)

    Perform incident management including overseeing investigations, reporting, and follow up.
  • Coordinate with the Return-to-Work Coordinator and site staff as necessary.
  • Follow up on monthly site safety inspections and actions.
  • Recommend corrective and preventative safety measures and appropriate safety equipment and materials to site management.
  • Ensure risk analysis and hazard identification processes are completed for all sites.
  • Coordinate and maintain contractor management induction, insurance, and documentation.
  • Ensure sites maintain and update chemical inventory and SDS records.
  • Assist sites with writing procedures, policies, and educational material for the site safety programs.
  • Ensure sites conduct exposure monitoring programs and employee fit tests.
  • Serve sites as subject matter expert and resource for all health, safety, and environmental related needs.
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Travel to identified locations to provide compliance assistance as well as formally audit per defined schedule.
  • Coordinate sustainability / ESG activities in all related sites.
  • Review and report on PPI program metrics and support compliance.
  • Develop compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental regulatory needs.
  • Enforce group foundation safety standards, identify and monitor corrective actions to ensure compliance.
  • Support an HSE culture of reporting, review, and corrective actions.
  • Work with the National HSE Manager to recommend, develop and support corporate initiatives and programs.
  • Support the region when dealing with governmental regulatory entities as needed.
  • Review and report on regional HSE performance monthly.
  • Develop and support best practice principals to improve consistency with national HSE and compliance programs and tools.
  • Report Health, Safety, Environment matters from associated sites to the National HSE Manager and Regional Managers in a timely manner.
  • Take a “hands-on” and involved approach to Improving Safety
    o Regional leads will perform regular HSE-focused site visits at all major sites in their region on an annual basis – with the sole purpose of training, supporting, guiding, and in many cases resolving / fixing HSE issues that need correction. This is not to relieve site-HSE leads from their responsibilities, but instead to show a partnership between HSE National & Regional Management and the business that they support.
    o General guideline should be that the Regional HSE leads should be on-site at all major USA Laboratories in their region at least two (2) times per year, and that the National HSE Lead should visit every major site during one of these visits by the Regional HSE lead at least one (1) time every two (2) years.

    Must be available to travel a minimum of 3-4 weeks per calendar year.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of HSE experience is required.
  • Health & Safety Program Certifications is preferred.
  • 1-year experience in a Laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license
